Frozen Yogurt with Fresh Cherry Sauce

By Christie

Frozen Yogurt Popsicles with Fresh Cherry Sauce

‏A frozen yogurt popsicle is the best idea for a summer snack or even breakfast on the run.

These popsicles are not only pretty they are a healthy and delicious treat you really don’t have to feel guilty about. Loaded with fresh cherry sauce and dark chocolate granola they are absolutely out of this world!

Frozen yogurt popsicles are so easy to make and you can perfectly customize them to your taste.

I knew I had to use the cherry sauce for these popsicles. I couldn’t wait to make them just by imagining how they would turn out with the contrast of the yogurt and the beautiful color of the cherry sauce.

Although they are easy to make they’re very tricky when it comes to removing them from the mold.

I usually let popsicles out of the freezer for a few minutes in order to remove them from the mold. For these  you will need to run the mold (or place it in a container with warm water) just for a few seconds. The sauce melts sooner than the yogurt so if you are not careful you will end up with a runny melty ice cream. I found out the hard way!

I suggest to start assembling the popsicles with yogurt and then alternate with the sauce and granola as you prefer.

I used greek yogurt and I added a hint of almond extract. There is something about the combination of almonds and cherries that I can’t resist.

You can perfectly replace greek yogurt with regular and they will turn out just as well.  You can also add some milk and honey to the greek yogurt if you prefer it lighter or runnier. I just used it as is since I prefer ours richer.

I love the addition of dark chocolate granola as when you bite into it, it seems you’re having a dark chocolate oatmeal cookie.

You could also just mix the sauce and the yogurt and pour the mixture into the molds. You can customize this recipe to your taste. The only fancy equipment you will need is a popsicle mold. I got mine in Amazon.

Frozen Yogurt with Fresh Cherry Sauce Popsicles

Makes 10 3oz popsicles

Frozen Yogurt Popsicles with Fresh Cherry Sauce

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups of greek vanilla yogurt

1/4 tsp of almond extract

1/2 cup of fresh cherry sauce

1/2 cup of dark chocolate coconut granola

Instructions

Place yogurt in a medium bowl  and add the almond extract. Stir until they’re combined.

To assemble the popsicles:

Pour 1-2 tbsp of yogurt in the mold. Add 1 tsp of cherry sauce (or more depending on the marble effect you prefer).  Add 1 tsp of granola and add another tbs of yogurt. Finish each popsicle with a sprinkle of granola on top.

Fill each popsicle three-quarter of the way up of each mold as liquid expands when it freezes.

Tap the mold on the counter to settle the layers and eliminate air bubbles.

Place top of the mold when you finish assembling the popsicles and insert popsicle sticks.

Freeze for about 6 hours or overnight.

Run popsicles under warm water for 10 seconds until they’re released from the mold.

Notes

Start assembling each popsicle with yogurt as it will hold the shape  while removing them from the mold.  Please note that the sauce will melt faster.

You can stir the popsicle with a knife or a stick before you freeze them if you prefer a more mixed marble effect.

Hope you’re having a good week! ♥️
